On 13 June 2018 Center for Intercultural Communication was solemnly opened in Volga Manor, located in the vicinity of Harbin (Heilongjiang Province, PRC). This is the first step towards the implementation of the tripartite agreement between Moscow State University, University of International Business and Economics (Beijing) and Volga Manor.

Volga Manor is a unique man-made historical and cultural object in the North of China. 11 years ago a successful engineer Huang Zusiang, who has been in love with Russian culture since childhood, began restoration of St. Nicholas Cathedral, a symbol of Harbin, destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. He did it in an area of 60 hectares with the help of Russian architects. Then the monument to Alexander Pushkin, Petrovsky Castle, Tsaritsyn Palace, wooden buildings of Nizhny Novgorod, Khabarovsk, Irkutsk and other objects of Russian architecture of the 17th - early 20th century appeared.

In July – August this year University Professors of Moscow State University will hold here the first summer school of Russian language for schoolchildren and students. The preparation for this event has been actively led by Vice-rector Yu. A. Mazey and deputy director of the Institute of Russian Language and Culture of Moscow State University Valerij V. Сhastnyh since November 2017. In the long term - the organization of advanced training courses for Russian language teachers of Chinese schools and universities in Heilongjiang Province.

Vice-rector Tatiana V. Kortava gave a lecture to 250 schoolchildren and students of Heilongjiang Province educational institutions at the opening ceremony of the Center. They learned about the successful application of distance learning technologies in teaching Russian to students of different countries at Moscow State University.

From 12 to 14 June 2018 there were held meetings with the leaders of Heilongjiang Province and Harbin, Vice-Governor Jia Yumei, Vice-Governor Sun Dongsheng and Vice-Mayor Zhang Wangping. During the meetings participants discussed the possibilities of implementing joint research and educational projects with institutions of higher and secondary education with the support of regional governments.

Also there were held meetings with Rector of University of International Business and Economics (Beijing) Professor Wang Jiaqiung, Secretary of Party Committee of Heilongjiang University Liu Dechuan and Rector of Harbin Pedagogical University Professor Sun Lijun. Participants discussed the preparation of joint master's programs in Russian as a foreign language, translation and translation studies, international economics and business, activation of youth research cooperation, intensification of exchanges between students and professors of Moscow State University and Universities of Heilongjiang Province, which have been existing for more than 20 years.

The delegation visited the museum of Heilongjiang University, which is the cradle of Chinese Russian studies. Many University Professors of Moscow State University, whose photographs adorn the walls of the museum, made a tremendous contribution to the development of the scientific and methodical school of teaching Russian in China in the 1940s and 1960s.

Legendary Professor of Heilugjiang University Iya D. Tehnczyun played a special role in educating teaching staff and disseminating the Russian language in China. Several years ago President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin awarded her the Order of Friendship. MSU delegation handed over to Iya D. Tehnczyun memorable gifts on behalf of Rector of Moscow State University Academician Victor A. Sadovnichy at the opening ceremony of the Center for Intercultural Communication of Volga Manor.
