On 18 January 2019 the final stage of the Eighth online friendship festival "Folklore as a people’s confession" was held in the audience B-2 ("Losev-center") of the MSU Shuvalov campus.

Online friendship festival is an annual traditional event, the idea of which belongs to Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University Academician Victor A. Sadovnichy. This year 248 students, postgraduates, master's degree students and trainees from 47 universities, both Russian and foreign, took part in the Festival. The finalists of the Festival came from more than 50 countries of the world: China and Japan, India and Mongolia, from many countries in Africa, Latin America, Middle and Southeast Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

The final stage of the Festival was held in the form of a concert-presentation called “The Youth Sings the Song of Friendship”. The holiday was hosted by President of the Association of Foreign Graduates Living and Working in Russia, former Ambassador of the Republic of Benin, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Geology of Moscow State University Anicet Gabriel Kotchofa and Co-Chair of the MSU Student Union, student of the Higher School of Television Katarina Yurovskaya.

Katarina Yurovskaya opened a creative program by performing a capella bright quodlibet of Russian folk songs from various regions of Russia. A touching Chinese song translated into Russian was taken the stage by the master's degree student of the MSU Faculty of Educational studies Xu Kai, who came from China. Student of the Higher School of Economics (Nizhny Novgorod), Lajal Brahim, who came from Algeria to learn Russian language and Russian culture, con fuoco and cheerfully sang Russian folk sung couplets. The future translator and student of the MSU Higher School of Translation and Interpretation, Chen Xueying, amazed the audience by playing the Chinese flute, and Gao Han, a student of the MSU Institute of Russian Language and Culture, who has been learning Russian for half a year, brilliantly sang the Russian folk song “Polyushko-Pole” without musical accompaniment.

More than 30 universities and educational centres contacted MSU: Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (Iran, Mashhad), Shenzhen MSU-BIT University (China), Belarusian State Medical University, Southern Federal University, Mordovia State University, Vladimir State University, Kalmyk State University and many others.

The finalists invited by the Organizing Committee from Kaluga State University, Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy and Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (as well as their professors) attended Moscow State University.
