MSU first-year students won three silver medals at the IBO

The 30th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) was held in Szeged, Hungary. Teams from 78 countries participated in the intellectual competition. In total there were two stages - theoretical and practical. The works of the participants were evaluated by an authoritative international jury. According to the results of competitions among young biologists, Russia became the owner of three silver and one bronze medals. Lomonosov Moscow State University traditionally became a training center for members of the Russian national team. Professor Alexander M. Rubtsov was the head coach of the national biological team (Associate Professor Galina A. Belyakova and Research Scientist Evgeny S. Shilov were his deputies).

         Winners, prize winners and team leaders who have successfully performed at international competitions in general subjects are awarded cash prizes in the amount of 400 thousand to 1 million rubles. Medals recipients also have the right to enter any Russian university without examinations in the relevant profile. It is already known how the winners of the 30th International Biology Olympiad disposed of this promotion. So, silver medalist Denis Lissitsky (Pushkin Lyceum No. 78, Naberezhnye Chelny) enters the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University. Natalya Kolyupanova (Marshal Vasily I. Chuikov School, Moscow) and Artemy Pigidanov (Lyceum No. 14, Izhevsk) who also won silver medals chose MSU Faculty of Bioengineering and Bioinformatics.
