On May 17, 2014 the MSU Pension “Universitetsky” hosted the closing ceremony of the 48th Mendeleev International Olympiad in Chemistry for School Pupils. During this festive ceremony, the organization committee and jury presented the winners with prizes. 104 school pupils from the following 16 countries participated in the Olympiad: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. 62 participants were awarded prizes. Prize winners received 10 gold medals, 20 silver medals and 32 bronze medals. Maria-Andrea Filip representing the Romanian team was declared the absolute champion of the Olympiad. Yuri Andreev (Moscow) representing Russia and Alexei Sadykov (Republic of Tatarstan) took second and third places, respectively. The 49th Mendeleev International Olympiad in Chemistry for School Pupils will take place in the city of Kazan in 2015.
