From 31 July 2018 to 6 August 2018, the XV International Geography Olympiad (iGeo) was held in Quebec, Canada, where Russian School Students won one gold, one silver and two bronze medals. For the first time ever, the representative of Russia became the absolute winner of this Olympiad: Alen Kospanov, a School Student of Moscow school No. 853, scored the maximum points among all participants. It stands to mention that Alain won by a significant margin: primarily, a good result in the practical (field) tour allowed him to get ahead of other participants. By the way, Alen won a silver medal last year at iGeo-2017 in Belgrade. Olga Bogdanova (Timiryazevskaya School No. 1454, Moscow) won the silver medal, while Vyacheslav Bogolyubsky (School No. 13, Chelyabinsk) and Mikhail Selyugin (School No. 146 with enhanced studying of mathematics, physics and computer science, Perm) became bronze medalists. Professors of the Faculty of Geography of Moscow State University: Leading research associate of Economic and Russian Social Geography Department Pavel L. Kirillov, Higher Senior Officer Nikita A. Mozgunov and Head of the Department of Socio-economic geography of foreign countries Alexey S. Naumov - prepared the national team for the Olympiad. Olympiad tasks consisted of three tours: a written test, field observation and a multimedia test. What is more, School Students did them in English. Alen Kospanov, Olga Bogdanova and Vyacheslav Bogolubsky became students of the Faculty of Geography of Moscow State University.
