From 16 to 25 August Moscow State University with the support of Rosatom State Corporation is holding the Research digital school «Vernadsky» for high school students in order to develop and popularize project research and innovation activities.

Within the framework of the school, classes will be held in physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and computer science, aimed at forming ideas about the current trends in the development of modern science. After online-classes participants will be able to try their hand at virtual laboratories where they will put their knowledge into practice. The labs will modulate megascience experiments, decipher the structure of vital proteins and study the properties of new polymers for the aerospace industry. The training is based on a project-based approach to solving real scientific problems under the guidance of young scientists and talented university students.

The 2020 digital schools summer season covered 12 regions and more than 300 schoolchildren from all over the country. During the week, the participants, under the guidance of mentors, developed their own engineering and research projects, and later defended their ideas in front of an experienced jury. As a result more than 100 different project ideas were presented, the best of which received mentoring support.

The head of the «Vernadsky» research digital school is Alexander Sergeevich Vorontsov, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Physics.

The classes will be taught by students of Moscow University:

  • Mathematics: Irina Bukreeva, 4th year student of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics;
  • Physics: Timofey Sovetnikov, 4th year student of the Faculty of Physics;
  • Computer Science: Dmitry Khutornoy, 4th year student of the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics;
  • Chemistry: Violetta Ionova, 6th year student of the Faculty of Chemistry;
  • Biology: Maria Parfenenko, 2nd year student of the Faculty of Fundamental Medicine;
