"Vernadsky-Krasnoyarsk Krai" memorandum

Date /

On January 25, 2021, as part of the Assembly Meeting dedicated to the 266th anniversary of the founding of Moscow University, an agreement on the creation of the Vernadsky-Krasnoyarsk Krai scientific and educational consortium was signed via videoconference. The document was signed by the President of the Russian Union of Rectors, the Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Academician Victor Sadovnichy, and the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Krai, Alexander Uss.

We recall that the initiator of the program Vernadsky is Victor Sadovnichy. Its goal is to form scientific and educational consortia that integrate the capabilities of universities, scientific organizations, and high-tech companies for the purpose of socio-economic and innovative development of regions, and the effective use of advanced achievements in education, science, and technology.

The head of the Siberian region, Alexander Uss, praised the prospects for cooperation between Moscow State University and the Krasnoyarsk Krai, and also recalled the words of Academician Vladimir Vernadsky, who once said that the main engine of human activity is inspiration. In turn, the Rector of Moscow State University Victor Sadovnichy noted "I promise to do everything possible for our consortium to work productively. The Krasnoyarsk Krai is the backbone of our country."

Alexander Uss stressed that the consortium is primarily intended to combine efforts in fundamental and applied research.

"Of course, Moscow State University and Siberian Federal University have interacted before, but the signing of the memorandum makes this work more systematic.

Currently, RUSAL has taken the initiative to join the consortium. We believe that in the near future the status of our industrial partners will be acquired by Norilsk Nickel and Polyus, SGK and other companies operating in the Krasnoyarsk Krai. This will allow them to use the scientific potential of Siberian Federal University (SFU) to implement modern developments in practice, and to make education more practice-oriented, " said Alexander Uss, Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Krai, especially for the NOP. By definition, SFU is the coordinator of scientific and educational life in the Krasnoyarsk Krai, this is predetermined by its scale. If megabus is all of Krasnoyarsk Krai, the core and heart, with respect to the consortium is SFU".

Maxim Rumyantsev, Rector of SFU, told NOP about the coordinating role of SFU in the Vernadsky-Krasnoyarsk Krai consortium:

"The preparation of the SFU development program, including for participation in the Priority 2030 strategic academic leadership program, takes interaction with our industrial and academic partners to a new level.

Today, it is no longer enough to just point network projects, a comprehensive plan of cooperation on a wide range of issues with all participants in the economic, scientific, educational, cultural, sports and social activities of the whole macroregion is needed.

The understanding of the inevitability of overlapping interests and the willingness to jointly implement the measures necessary to achieve the goals set led us to build various consortium models.

In this sense, the Vernadsky – Krasnoyarsk Krai Consortium is an effective tool for rebuilding the regional system of implementing the scientific, technological and educational agenda in the interests of our industrial partners – the leading manufacturing companies in Russia, and in the interests of the residents of the region, especially the young and younger generation."
