On January 27, 2021, the Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Academician Victor Sadovnichy, and the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Gleb Nikitin signed a memorandum on the establishment of the Vernadsky — Nizhny Novgorod Region consortium.


Within the framework of the memorandum, a regional scientific and educational consortium of leading universities, regional universities, research institutes and socially oriented businesses will be created, joint laboratories, departments and centers for collective use will be formed. As a result, the region gets access to the scientific, educational and technological achievements of the country's leading universities for the development of scientific topics that are important for its territory.

"One of the main directions of the MSU development program is the Vernadsky project. Work on the creation of consortia has been underway since 2018. The Nizhny Novgorod region is a very strong region, it was one of the first to create a world-class Scientific and Educational Center within the framework of the national project Science. Gleb Nikitin has conceived a lot of things that are planned to be done in the region to support science and education, " said Victor Sadovnichy.
