Video conference "Personnel for the tourism business in Russia and Africa"

On September 10, 2020, Lomonosov Moscow State University, with the support of Innopraktika, held a video conference with Tanzania on the topic Personnel for the tourism business in Russia and Africa. The Russian Center for Science and Culture in Dar es Salaam, the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Tanzania, actively assisted in organizing the meeting.

The video conference was opened by MSU Vice-Rector Tatyana Kortava, who noted the importance of expanding the Russian-speaking space and the need to create a platform for the development of business and humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Africa. She stressed that the teaching of the Russian language in Tanzania will be a powerful catalyst for bilateral cooperation, especially in the field of tourism. She told about the plans of the Moscow University to develop materials for the module "Russian Language Proficiency in the tourism sector" within the framework of the Russian state testing system, followed by certification based on the results of the module.

Emotional and constructive performance was Director of the National Council of Tanzania tourism Devote Mdachi. Speaking about the impatience with which Russians are waiting in Tanzania, Ms Mdachi said that they have a reputation as one of the safest countries in Africa for tourism.

Zarina Doguzova, head of the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation, supported the idea of teaching Russian to representatives of the tourism industry in Tanzania and expressed her readiness for further cooperation.

Russian Russian Russian Language and Culture Institute Deputy Director Valery Privatykh spoke about the successful experience of working with Rossotrudnichestvo in Tanzania in the field of teaching Russian as a foreign language and proposed a new project-the creation of Russian language training programs for representatives of the tourism business. He invited Tanzanian travel companies to support the initiative of the Russian side to spread and popularize the Russian language among Tanzanians engaged in the tourism business. This initiative is a continuation of the large-scale educational project "Distant Russian in Africa", as a result of which Moscow University received an invitation from the University of Uganda to provide scientific and methodological support in the organization of teaching Russian.

Ekaterina Zimakova, Co-Chair of the MSU Student Union, spoke about the prospects of youth cooperation for the development of international tourism, and also invited young people to actively participate in the organization of international events and forums.

Maria Pateeva, Director of the Russian Center for Science and Culture (Rossotrudnichestvo) in Dar es Salaam, thanked everyone who responded to the Center's offer to participate in the video conference. The Russian Center for Science and Culture in Dar es Salaam plays an important role in expanding cooperation between the two countries, attracting the attention of Tanzanians with its interesting and creative events.

During the video conference, the participants exchanged ideas and touched upon such topics as employment of Tanzanian graduates of Russian universities in the field of tourism business and much more.
