Sports life at Moscow University is rich and diverse. Lomonosov MSU has a unique sports base, through which more than 12,000 students pass annually. In addition to compulsory physical education classes, students have access to more than 40 Central sections that work outside the schedule of the curriculum, to get into which it is necessary to qualify and to have a certain level of sportsmanship. The Central sections form the MSU sports teams.

The University hosts many sports events, the largest of which is the MSU Sports Contest, which has been held since 1932 and includes more than 30 sports. More than 7,000 students become its participants every year!

Besides the Department of Physical education and sports, the Student Sports Club and the sports Department of the Student Council organize sports events at MSU. Many faculties also hold their own competitions.

The Rector's Center for Student Sports operates at Moscow State University, which includes a sports complex at the Faculty of Economics, as well as dormitory halls DSL, DAS, DSV and FDS. Students can work out independently in gyms and cardio zones, as well as attend open training sessions organized by the MSU Student Sports Club in the group program hall.

The best athletes of the University represent their alma mater at the Intercollegiate championship in Moscow, as well as attend competitions held in other cities of Russia and abroad.
